Because a thankful heart is a happy heart – Days 26-30

My goodness, it’s December already (Captain Obvious, at your service!).

So that was a bit of a fail on my part, to finish out November with the thankfuls. But better late than never, right? Maybe? Give me this one?

Day 26 – Ladies and gentlemen, this is my dad.

And no, they were not out of the little paper cups. My dad is nuts, you guys. And he really loves that about himself. But he is also generous and supportive and loves his family a whole lot. Like, a lot a lot. So if you are thinking you are jealous that you did not grow up with someone who brings you ketchup in a plastic lid you would be… confused. But a little bit right. 🙂

Day 27 – My dad is not the only one in the family who amuses himself so easily.

My brothers are goofballs and tend to greet me by putting me in a headlock instead of giving me a hug, but one thing I’ve learned about boys is that sometimes violence is their love language. In which case, I am loved. Almost to death. Literally. My brothers were my first friends and while we know exactly how to make each other miserable, we also know how to cheer each other up and make each other laugh. They are loving and supportive and caring and protective and I love my little bros!

Day 28 – I have to move in a couple of months. Blurgh. But as I make a mental note of all the things I need to pack, I’m thankful as I recount to myself the story of how I came to own certain items. The friend who let me buy her table for a mere $50. The generous friend of my dad’s who just gave me a couch. A former roommate who left her end tables behind. My mom who gave up a dresser set and an aunt who passed on her desk. So much history and lurrrrrrrrve behind my things!

Day 29 – I’m going to squeeze in two December thankfuls here. Just go with it. 1. I GOT TO SEE LES MIZ!

(It’s a blurry pic, taken with my phone, but look at all the giddy!!) The youngest of the aforementioned brothers came with me and it’s safe to say that Les Mis has a new fan. You are welcome, 24601! It was such a great show and I hope it is just the first of many that I get to attend! 2. FINALLY IT IS COLD. I mean, yes, it did get up to 50 degrees today but my house is frigid. I love this because it finally feels like winter, which means it even kind of feels like Christmas, and not a moment too soon! For those of you keeping track at home, I still haven’t watched Elf (oh, the travesty!) but soon… its time is coming, I can feel it in my bones!

Day 30 – Finally, even though I don’t come here as often as I would like, I’m thankful for this little ol’ blog. Writing is a good catharsis and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to scribble my random thoughts here. Thanks for reading!
